Thomas Smith found guilty on an indictment for breaking into the dwelling house of William Beale in the parish of Wadhurst in August 1737 (actual date illegible); and stealing therefrom a flaxen linen shirt (valued at 2/-), a linen apron (valued at 1/6), a linen shirt (valued at 6d), a silk handkerchief (valued at 1/-), 2 pairs of leather breeches (valued at 2/-), a man’s cloth coat (valued at 10/-),a woollen apron (valued at 4d), a walking stick (valued at 2d), a linen bag (valued at 2d) and 8½d in money numbered - the goods and money of William Beale; and a pair of flaxen sheets (valued at £1.10/-) and a linen pillow case (valued at 1/6) the goods of Sarah Beale.  Executed.
